| The
Golden Jubilee Garden, The Savill Garden,
Windsor Park |
(Opened
by HM The Queen, July 2002)
Part of a large public garden, this space is designed primarily
for high summer interest.
From one entrance, the visitor is presented with a formal vista,
terminating at the steel water sculpture. In contrast, the approach
from the woodland garden is half hidden by hedges, with views gradually
unfolding.
Materials were chosen to complement the pastel shades of herbaceous
plantings, which are seen against a background of dark yew and are
viewable from all directions, building up deep layers of colour.
(As the new hedging grows, the enclosure intended in the design
will be fully achieved.)
Herbaceous schemes by Lyn Randall, Head of the Savill Garden. Water
sculpture by Barry Mason FRBS.
